Will my bag look exactly like the photos?
Close, but not identical, and that's a good thing. Cowhide is a natural material and every hide has its own unique pattern, colouring and texture. The bag you receive will be the same style, shape and quality as shown, but your markings will be your own. No two Friends Of bags are exactly alike.
Where are the bags made?
Designed in Australia with cowhide sustainably sourced from West Java, Indonesia, every Friends Of bag is handcrafted Indonesia by a small family owned manufacturer we work with directly. We visit the workshop in person, work closely with the team on every detail, and are committed to maintaining a transparent and respectful relationship with the people who help make our vision come to life.
Is the leather ethically sourced?
Our cowhide is sourced from West Java, a highland region in the foothills of the Puncak mountains on the island of Java, Indonesia, renowned for its leather craft tradition!
The cowhide is a byproduct of the meat and dairy industry. The hide would otherwise go to waste. We believe in using the whole animal, and cowhide leather is one of the most durable and long-lasting materials you can carry.
